Varanasi
Varanasi is known as the holy city in India. Its present name comes from the two rivers, Varuna and Asi that joins the Ganges River. Varanasi is also the symbol of Hindu renaissance. It is also one of the world's oldest living cities. It was once the city of temples, the city of 'ghats', the city of music, the center of the moksha or nirvana, Bernares and Kashi ('city of light'). Ghats are broad sets of steps that lead down to the Ganges River. It is one of the most important city in Hinduism history. But it is popularly known as the city of Shiva and Ganga. Shiva is the third of the principal gods of the Hindu. It is located in the southeastern part of the state, Uttar Pradesh, in the northern part of India. It is located in the left side of the bank of the holy river, Ganges (Ganga) and one of the seven sacred spots for Hindus. Every Hindu has a dream to take a holy dipat the famous 'Ghats' of the Ganges, walk the Panchakoshi road that bounds the city, and, if God wills, die here of old age. Veda is oldest language in Hindu history. It is olcated between 1500 BCE~600 BCE. Veda is researched and collected by Vyasa Krishna Dwaipayana. Rig- Veda is a collection of over 1,000 hymns, Many of them reminds you about the gods, Indra and Agni, the gods of war and fire in a respected way.Brahmin priestsmathodically memorized the Veda. The Ganges River play a VERY big role in the history of Varanasi. Agriculture is uses this river's water. This river is also part of Hinduism. According to the mythology of Hindu, the Ganges is a goodess (!!). She was in the heavens until a human king, Bhagiratha, played to the god of Brahmato have to in Earth. Brahma granted his wish but the Ganges was frustrated and thought about entering the earth with a very big force that can destroy Earth. Then Bhagiratha prayed to Shiva, caught the Ganges by its hair and released her into small streams to enter earth.

Before you go there and see the cultural shocks and faint, I will just warn you just in the safe side. There will be a lot of animals like cows, monkeys, and a lot more. You will also have to get use to the disgusting smell. You also have to know that there is a drug called paan. This drug makes your teeth go red and rotten. You will see adults and children eating this drug and seeing eaten paan all over the floor. (Please don't freak out at the next part) When you visit the Ganges River, you will see people doing their business in the river. There are some clothing you would want to bring suring these times. In summer time, the highest is 45 degrees Celcius and is humid. I suggest you would bring some shorts, T- shirt, and probably an umbrella because the monsoon usually some in late June or early July and last about 2 months. In the winter time, it is about 7 degrees Celcius. But the best time is between October and April.
