Even though there are over 400 languages in south asia the four most spoken language in South Asia is:
1. Hindi
2. English
3. Telegu
4. Urdu
The spiritual language of India is sanskrit, it is one of the first languages ever made it was made in the mid 1500 bc, that was when stone henge was still in use! It is the origin of many languages spoken in India today. Even our numbers come from sanskrit, you can really see it in the sanskrit number two.
Over 2000 years the language is no longer spoen in the world. the only people who recite this language is the vedas to remember their ancestors. In the 18th century when the british were taking over India, there were was a church named the Asiatic society of Bengal. The man who fouded the church was named William Jones, he wanted to learn sanskrit, his curiosity of this language is later to change our own language, English. He even found that sanskrit was in latin and greek.
Now most of India's population speaks Hindi. Hindi is also one the languages that came from sanskrit. You know why kids say mama when they are young? Its because of sanskrit. In sanskrit mother is MATAR the two first letters in the word was transformed into mama for the young to remember clearly in their mind.
When the Vedas pray to their gods they recite in sanskrit, because as the website had mentioned before sanskrit is the spiritual language in India.

To find sanskrit in India, refering to go to North India where most of the vedas are. Keep note that you must take off your shoes when you enter one of the temples. You may only be allowed a certain ammount of time in the temple depending to the spiritual leader.
