~~Allahabad~~
History
Allahabad, also known as Prayag ("place of sacrifice"), is an ancient city in India with a long history. It is beliefed that if a person steps into the gates of Allahabad, all his/her sins will be cleansed. Allahabad is one of the largest cities in North India surrounded by 2 major rivers on all three sides. The Hindu belief states that place where the two rivers meet is the legendary invisible Sarasvati River. The Sarasvasti River is considered incredibly sacred and holy in the Hindu religion. The place where the three rivers meets is called Triveni which is one of the most sacred place according to Hindu belief. It is also believed that Allahabad is the place where Brahma (Hindu god of creation) made his first sacrifice after making the world. Allahabad contributed an important part to the culture and history in Indian .
In 1193, Allahabad became part of Delhi Sultanate when it was captured by Muhammad of Ghor. The Mughal invasion started in India in 1526, so Allahabad eventually became part of their empire. Due to the big rivers that provide good transportation, Emperor Akbar built an enormous fort on the supposedly holy banks of Sanjam and renamed the city as Illahabad in 1575. Emperor Akbar's son, Prince Salim, was the first to rebel against his father. Before the death of Akbar in 1605, he announced Prince Salim as the next emperor. Salim served as the emperor under the fake name of Jahangir. He was the last emperor because of the the invasion and capture of the Marathas. Later in 1765, the British won the Battle of Buxar with Indian forces and took control of Allahabad and the rest of India. The country struggled for freedom and independence from the British and Allahabad was the Center of War of Independence and later ,under the help of nonviolent and peaceful fighters (like Gandhi), became the place of Indian Freedom Movement against British.

Travel Guide & Tips
Even though, most of Allahabad is safe and secured, never go out alone in the dark, always carry a flashlight or/and a whistle. Women and girls have to carefully and appropriately dress and be cautious to never reveal too much because there are occasionally some sick local men who will touch them and quickly run away. Robbery is common, so keep your money somewhere unreachable and within your sight (like a money belt/pouch). Allahabad is extremely hot and there are monsoons in the summer, so most tourists do not go in the summer. In the winter, it is usually foggy, so it is bad for flight and traffic, so most tourists do not go in the winter. If you want to go sight seeing and go see public celebration, go sometime in between October and March.
