The History of Literature in India

Literature in India isn't just about books, it's also about poetry and  drama.  Although
the history of oral literature and the passing of legends and stories in India dates back
 a
really long time and could be considered one of the oldest forms of literature, it
wasn't
until the 16th century when the writing form  appeared. Many people started to
 want to
learn how to write literature soon after the British started to colonize India. As the British came, they also brought their language, so in the early colonial years, some Indian people used the english writing system, but some(people who didn't like the British ruling over them) refused to use English and chose to learn the Indian writing system. Then it began to spread as the British moved around more in India. They brought both the Indian and English style of writing throughout India.
After the British came, the written form of literature became
 popular and began to
spread very quickly. Many people soon started to realize the importance of writing and
 many began
to learn quickly. Many famous Indian writers erupted after the writing form
of literature began to spread.Such authors are, Rabindranath Tagore, one of the most
famous and best poets in the history of India. Another is Munshi Premchand, who was
a famous fantasy writer and short story author. Another famous author is Bankim
Chandra Chatterjee, who was the author of India's national song,Vande Mataram.
They were all writers born in the 18th century, which
 was about when the British
took over control in India.

India has one of the youngest  forms of writing systems.Indian Literature is famous
for its legends and stories, most which comes from the Hindu religion.  Indian drama
and plays are also very famous and
popular amongst both foreigners and local Indian
people.  If you were to go to India and you are a person who likes drama and plays, then
I highly suggest paying Bollywood a visit. Its is just like Hollywood, but most of its
productions include a lot of
music and culture which is kinda different from Hollywood.

Traveler's guide

Since literature cannot be visited, maybe if you like drama and plays and Hollywood, you would like to visit Bollywood. It is located in the center of Mumbai, a crowed and busy city. It is sorta like Hollywood but most of its productions are filled with music or very cultural. You can also visit the Indian Museum in Kolkata, when i was there, I remember there was a few pieces of papyrus that was said to be scripts written by poet Rabindranath Tagore.
