History of Islam
The word Islam means 'submission to the will of God'.
Islam is the second largest religion in the world that has over 1 billion followers. People recorded 1,591,000 Muslims in the United Kingdom with the population around 2.7%.The people that believes in Islam are called Muslims. Muslims believed that Islam was discovered over more than 1400 years ago in Mecca, Arabia, and they also believed that they only have one god. The god sent a lot of prophets (people who know what’s going to happen next) to humans to teach them how to live according to his law, how the god want them to live. Jesus, Moses and Abraham are to respect as the prophets of God.
Five Pillars of Islam
The most important Muslim practices are the Five Pillars of Islam.
The Five Pillars of Islam are the five duty or promises that every Muslim must satisfy (please) in order to have a wonderful and pleasant life. Five Pillars proves that the Muslim is putting their faith to, and not just trying to fit it in around their secular (people that is not connected with Islam) lives.
The Five Pillars are:
Shahadah: reciting the Muslim job of faith
Salat: performing prayers in the proper way of five times each day
Zakat: paying a charity to help the poor
Sawm: fasting during the month of Ramadan
Hajj: journey made by pilgrim to Mecca
