History For Peshawar
Peshawar, located at the Northwest of Pakistan and near the Khyber Pass. Peshawar is an ancient city, but once was a fort.It was called Bala-Hisar, found by the first Emperor of Mughal Empire called Zaheer-ud-Din Babur. When he was on his way from Kabul (a city in Afghanistan ), he ordered his servants to strenghthen the fort so he could control the Khyber Pass. The Sikhs and British during their rule also strenghthened the fort for their desire of controlling the fort. This fort was a mystery during the age of antiquity,missionaries from all over the world were tempting to see this fort but was protected by the moat around it.
The Achaemenian rule in Bala-Hisar was followed by the invasion of of Alexander the Great and then the Indo-Greeks.The Macedonian did not rule Bala-Hisar for too long, but it still influenced the Bala-Hisar through mainly religion. After this, Buddhist civilization of Gandhara that was under Kushan Empire's control which lasted about 500 years. Comparing to the Qing dynasty, that was pretty long. Its area of control covered Afghanistan, pakistan and some parts of India. After about 500 years later, the Kushan Empire suddenly collapsed, because the White Hun invasion. Many Buddhists monasteries and temples are burned to the ground, precious datas was gone during the 5th century.Kushan Empire was the last empire around that time. There wasn't an empire after Kushan Empire,but Bala-Hisar is a "cross road" of cultures. People from different areas came and left, some settled down, others moved on.It gave refuges to civilizations. Later on Bala-Hisar became a nice city what is now called Peshawar.

Traveler's Guide
Peshawar is a dangerous place, when you walk in the market, not only you could buy food, livestock but there are also firearms and ammunnition. With these dangerous and illegal stuff, this is like in the middle of a warfare. For festivals, in May 12 there is a fascinating festival called Kalish festival, you definitely don't want to miss this.
Peshawar's population density is high, thieves are every where so keep your personal belongings carefully, especially on the overcrowded buses that throng on the road. Don't bring too many valuable things with you when you are on the street.
Peshawar"s markets especially at the meat stall and the seafood area are not very clean, flys are every where, they lay eggs and become a kind of warms called maggots. So if you want to eat meat, you must cook the meat well done or else those maggots could grow more than 22 centimeters long in your body!

Silk Road
Silk Road was an ancient trade road from Central Asia through Europe, which was mainly Rome and the road pass through Peshawar. It's more than 4000 miles(6500km). The reason why Silk Road got its name because during the Han dynasty Chinese produced lots of silks, they thought other countries don't have silk so they created this road to let other countries to buy this fine material. But Silk Road is not only for trading silks, but others too, satin ,hemp,those are very fine fabrics. The true face of the Silk Road was filled with danger. Robbers and bandits were scattered along the Silk Road, thousands of people died during the trading. Until now traders still trade along the silkroad.

Peshawar was connected to trading because was an important resource for the people at Peshawar. The mighty silk road pass through Peshawar, which leads many fine fabrics and goods to Peshawar . But in modern trading, traders were mainly not using the Silk Road any more. They used cargo ships, train andplanes. Ganges River and Indus River were the major trading routes.
India was famous for textiles, because of Silk Road,Peshawar begans to know how to make fine fabrics such as silk . They import and export to make their GDP to grow. Silk was mainly
manufactured in the east of India, for coloring most of it was at Malabar. India traded with many countries, close to China, far to Rome.
Decline of trading was caused by political problems and the Maratha invasion which many merchants' goods were all destoryed.
